Oh and another thing....

Day.....something. I've lost track. It is now new years day in Australia. We're going to be a bit late to that party. 13 hours or so.
I found my friends after 48 hours alone here. Funny thing is, I had just come to peace with the idea that I may never have run into them. I met a familiar face from Easter Island, wouldn't call him a friend though, everyone else was a stranger. I waited a long time on a bridge separating the beach area from the food area. I figured it would be a safe bet. All I saw was other people meeting their friends. Ahh well :)
I think this was a big point in reclaiming my Zen, getting used to that. And then my friends just saunter in to the fest without a care in the world. It would be while i was eating dinner, too.

I have danced a lot. There are stages on the beach. The water is beautifully warm even at night. There are coconut trees literally everywhere. food and beer is cheap, even by festival standards. So, you know, can't complain.

Except that it's fucking hot. Sleep is a blessing, and is only going to happen at night, it's the only time the sea breeze is cool and the tent isn't a sauna. Sunscreen is practically a currency.

yesterday in aide of ignoring the heat, I did a walking tour of the festival with my camera. 1 photo every 10 steps. 500 photos. 5000 steps. Big festival. hopefully I can make a good montage / video with the pics.

Coconut water, oh. my. god. they cut them from the tree, bang them in a fridge for a few hours, then drill a hole in them and put a straw in. almost a litre. $1.50. More hydrating than water, apparently. I think this is my first experience of a tropical paradise. It needs air conditioning, but i like it.

Oh, and listen up, Rainbow Serpent - the composting toilets are attended and cleaned 24 hours a day, and they don't stink out the campsite thanks to some ingenious venting systems, and the showers never run out of water. Ok., cold water, but you really don't want hot water here. There's something nice about standing naked in a 9-stall shower with a bunch of other naked men and women, chilling the body off just after sunset, watching the clouds through the coconut trees above.

I will try to get another entry in before I leave in 3 days or so. tonight though - the NYE party is going to rock so damn hard that they shut down the rest of the festival at 6pm to let people rest and prepare, and then only turn on the mainstage at 10:45pm, and leave the others off. Atmos live. I am going to have sore feet tomorrow.
